College student and pharmacy intern at PPTH (working along side the current pharmacist, Lillian Armstrong)
History
Riya was born and raised in New York City, for the first eighteen years of her life before she moved to Rutger's University in New Jersey to study pharmacy. Being of Indian descent, Riya had always been a rather sheltered child by her family, especially her own parents. Dorming for college was the first step in the release from her parents' hold and it gave her a thrill. Despite their overprotectiveness, the Mallars supported their only daughter's every decision (she rarely did anything wrong -- according to her parents, at least).
During her high school years, Riya worked as a volunteer for various hospitals in the vicinity, varying from department to department but always found a heavy interest in the pharmacy department. Upon entering college, having chosen pharmacy as her major, she took on the job of a sales associates in several chain pharmacies, including CVS and Rite Aid. In her fourth year of the six-year-long Pharm. D. course, she obtained an internship at PPTH, a place to which Riya developed a fondness.
Personality
Riya is very serious when it comes to her work. She is quite a perfectionist and a hard-worker which has helped contribute to her very high grades in her class, placing her in the top 5 students in her year. Outside of the classroom, however, Riya seems like your regular exuberant college student, vivacious and outgoing in manner. Partying and shopping is her all-time favorite activites, right next to sitting down with a cup of cappuccino and reading through a medical non-fiction. You can say, she has obtained a very good balance on fun and work in her life.
